My counseling approach is interactional and psychodynamic. In addition to listening, I give plenty of feedback and teach new skills. Below you will find my philosophy, some of the issues that bring my clients to therapy and many of the therapy modalities I use.
Philosophy
From my perspective, many of the beliefs we have about ourselves and the world formed during childhood. While these beliefs may have been necessary coping skills when we were young, they often lead to problems with low self esteem, depression, anxiety, and anger.
Through the therapy process, clients identify and resolve their self limiting and self sabotaging beliefs and behaviors. They learn to let go of the past and stop worrying about the future. They develop the skills necessary to think clearly and to make healthy decisions about life and living.
